Courtney Turich: Welcome to Bold Moves, confident Choices. Today's guest is me, your friend, Courtney Turich. I've been pondering a lot about my motto, be bold, be confident, be you. Why is that? Reality is I haven't always been bold. I haven't always been confident, and I haven't always been myself. It is made me reflect on the moments where I started to make that pivot and realize the power of being bold and being confident and being myself.
When Bold Wasn’t Me
I go back to a moment that everybody loves to hear about and that's when I was on Shark Tank. I look at that and I realize. From the way I really portrayed myself wasn't who I was at the core and unfortunately I didn't realize that until I left my Shark Tank company.
And went back into the medical device world and started to live on my own. I went back into sales. I've always thrived in a sales environment. I. And when I owned my own territory again, and I got out there in front of customers and I started to have big wins for myself, I took a territory from zero to a hundred and I.
When I look back at all the accomplishments I did, which was pretty cool, I got to start at a startup and I got to see really a territory that came from nothing to something that grew and was a multimillion dollar producing territory for our company. It was a huge win and a huge aha. Wow. This is really freaking cool.
Owning the Room—and Myself
When I reflected back on the moment of why am I winning and why has my territory been so successful? It was the moments when I was walking through a hotel, ' cause I traveled a lot for my territory and there was a sales meeting going on and I sold the words bold confidence, and it was that light bulb of, oh my gosh, I have finally come into my own.
I have finally. Became the person I am in this world because I've been showing up to my customers. I was bold. I asked the questions. I wasn't afraid to lay it on the line of what they needed to do to elevate their program. And it was lung cancer. I was, that's the market I was in of how they needed to grow and be the experts in that space.
I said it how it was, I would go into those meetings and I was confident I wasn't over the top. I wasn't arrogant. I didn't have a high ego. I really just went in with a plan. Ask the hard question. So I was bold. I was confident in my delivery. I held my head up high. Always tell myself, go into any situation, roll your shoulders back, put your head up. Stand up straight, and you exude confidence. People see that people feel your energy when you come across that way. So I go into those meetings. With that approach. And then I would sit down and I would relax and I'd be myself. I wasn't all rah rah ri, and over the top, wow, look at me. Here I am.I just talk to them like normal people.
And that's what made me powerful. I asked the hard questions again, I was confident in myself and I was just being me. I. People like to buy from people they enjoy, they like they trust, right? You go into A situation and you listen to your customer, you listen to your friends. That's when you start to build trust, when they feel heard, and when you can also apply what you heard and the challenges they're facing, helping them in that manner.
The Why Not Theory
So here I am 47 and I didn't come to this realization until I was around my early forties 41, and reality is now I feel unstoppable. I. I really believe I can achieve anything I put my mind to. Yes, I have moments like it everyone does, where I second guess myself.I have limited beliefs, but look around you.
Look at the people you're surrounding yourself with, and also look at the people who are achieving greatness. We have the capability of doing the same. So I'm gonna ask you. Why not be bold? Why not be confident, and why not be you? Because it's so impactful when you can really embrace that side of yourself.
So this is my why not theory. You got this. I got this. I'm excited to see what the future holds for myself. There's so much more to come for me, and by me bringing this podcast to you, bold moves, confident choices. This is me sharing my voice and getting vulnerable.
